Delete Forever
Today, I decided to tidy up my over flooding gmail account. I never bother deleting anything, even though they are not necessarily important, simply because the storage space allows me to do so. After clearing up my inbox, I went to the trash, second round of cleaning. Then, I realized, the “delete forever” box.
Delete forever. To my surprise, I was startled when I saw that. It was just a bunch of junk, yet, I actually felt sad when I click on that box. Over the span of a few minutes, all the items were deleted, FOREVER.
Sometimes, I wish we had that option, which says, “delete forever” in our system. Would it not been easier if we can just erase unpleasant thoughts, painful memories, broken promises, by just one click? Click. And it would be gone forever. Nothing will ever evoke, or trigger such memories, anymore.
Then again, we learn from our mistakes, as well as other people’s mistakes, hopefully. The past is what shaped us today, and a guideline to our future, as we carry on with our lives. Delete forever seems a little too harsh for me. I could not imagine deleting someone or something out of my life, completely.
All we need is a little time, and space, to mend the broken hearts, and to restore the relationship. Eventually, things will come around, and everything will be all right.
p/s: To my emails that have been deleted forever, may you rest in peace.
